Apex Park – Relocation of the War Memorial

One of the first controversial issues for the new Council to make a decision about will be the relocation of the War Memorial in Apex Park.  As we have seen all too often at Salamander Shopping Centre and the Foreshore Revitalisation strategy, this is another ad hoc solution to a specific problem in isolation, without any consideration of the wider implications that it will have.  Once again the call for a Master Plan for the development of this critical area has been discussed but never completed or adhered to. We at TRRA are at our Witt’s end in having our calls for Master plans ignored and short term fixes employed to the long term detriment of the area.  Even when Council adopted a Master plan fof Medowie they went off and did something different before the ink was dry.  At Salamander Bay Shopping Centre they actually took a decision NOT to have a Master plan.  The last time they put a proposal to the JRPP they had also managed to completely ignore their own Koala Management Plan as well.  Lets hope the New Council will try to turn over a new leaf………..We can only live in hope.
