The Department Of Local Government (DLG) has an ongoing review process called “The Local Government Reform Program – Promoting Better Practice.”
The process is basically a “health check” of Council’s own self assessment process. The last one is on the Council’s website.

TRRA is waiting for the current review (Commenced in February 2011) to be published on the Council website. We know that a draft has been sent from the DLG to Council for their review (July 2011) and following further consideration by the DLG, the final will need to be adopted by Council at a meeting soon.
TRRA has made extensive submissions to the DLG and the Minster Hon. Don Page for their consideration in this report about our concerns regarding:
- Implementation of recommendations from the 2005 Review
- Planning and development decisions against staff recommendations, and at odds with policy
- Code of Conduct and Councillor behaviour issues
- Land sale process at Salamander Bay Shopping Centre
- Long term strategic, sustainable, decision making
- Asset and financial management issues and investment policies
TRRA will post the results of this important review as soon as they become available.
