Soldiers Point Marina expansion

The Soldiers Point Marina has applied for a major expansion (doubling) of the jetty area, adding 58 new berths to the west of the existing berths, relocating many of the moorings, and leaving the minimum required 30 metre navigation channel between the new berths and Dowardee Island.

The proposal addresses the existing shortfall of parking by proposing valet parking at a site on Soldiers Point Rd near George Rd, serviced by the marina’s courtesy bus.

This DA will be assessed by Port Stephens Council but decided by the Joint Regional Planning Panel.  A detailed Statement of Environmental Effects is on exhibition at the Tomaree Library (as well as the Council Chambers in Raymond Terrace until 7 April.  Any submissions should be made before then. (DA reference is 16-2012-57-1)

TRRA is interested in hearing views from members on this proposal. Please send any comments to Nigel Waters at planning@trra.com.au
