Nelson Bay CBD 2030 Plan
A revised draft of the Nelson Bay 2030 Strategy is in preparation (Sept 2011) and Council’s Group Manager Sustainable Planning has indicated that they intend to hold consultations/ workshops in the near future to test their latest thinking. TRRA has been assured that we will be invited as a stakeholder.
TRRA’s latest Submission to Council is: HERE
A Capacity Modelling Plan was prepared for Council as part of this exercise in May 2011. This was prepared by the Melbourne firm Design Urban, available: HERE Heaven forbid! TRRA strongly challenged the assumptions in this report especially the applicability of Melbourne inner city high density concepts to Nelson Bay.
TRRA did a Press Release on our ‘Vision For Nelson Bay’ that was eventually printed in the Examiner: HERE

Graffiti on the Tomaree Peninsula
Press Release Tags aren’t Art.pdf
TRRA originally met with The Nelson Bay Business Chamber and Nelson Bay Town Management to discuss the increasing issue of graffiti in the area. The Chamber has employed a Newcastle based group to remove grafitti from the Nelson Bay CBD area. We believe the Port Stephens Council should take the lead in dealing with the ever increasing vandalism and have sent the following letter to Council regarding the matter.TRRA Graffiti letter.pdf
The reply ackowledged the problem and referred to forming a working party of interested people. This has not yet happened. TRRA organised a meeting on the 9th March 2010 with three speakers (including a PSC representative) to address the topic – GRAFFITI – The Good, The Bad and The Ugly. TRRA has continued to lobby councillors and council and council has now drafted a Graffiti Management Plan which will be released after input from the Resident’s Panel.
