BIO-Roz Armstrong (Committee, Media – TRRA Inc)

A Soldiers Point resident Roz arrived in ‘the Bay’ in 1979 where she opened a coffee shop, and her children went to local schools.  She was an active member of the then Nelson Bay Chamber of Commerce, Vice President of the Port Stephens Festival Committee and a Director of Harbourside Haven.

A career in Community Services in the late 80’s took her to Newcastle, Tamworth, and Sydney while maintaining the family home in Nelson Bay for holidays.

Roz returned to the area to live at the turn of the century and, with her architect son, operated a business based on the Central Coast manufacturing bespoke timber windows and doors until 2008.  Semi-retirement saw Roz return to her career working part time with people with a disability, families and children crisis.

Roz is the immediate Past President of Soldiers Point Community Group, a current member of EcoNetwork Port Stephens and volunteers with Mambo Wanda Wetlands Landcare.

As a grandparent she understands the continuing need for sustainable development on the Tomaree Peninsula  to provide homes and jobs for residents  and  says  “My membership of Community Organisations like TRRA reflects my commitment to my community, to keep it safe, inclusive  and environmentally sustainable to ensure it remains a positive place to live and work for everyone.
